Arena Reno Zamboni Fundraiser

Wiarton | by Jon Meyer

To aid in costs for the community centre, a unique contest is being held today.

While renovations to the Wiarton and District Community Centre and Arena are almost complete, the fundraising effort is not.

So today the fundraising committee is hosting and event to get them closer to their goal.

The Bruce Peninsula Midget Reps will play an OPP team starting at 7 PM.

The cost of admission is by donation and there's a silent auction for the opportunity to drive the zamboni between periods.

South Bruce Peninsula Councillor and Fundraising Committee Member Marilyn Bowman says they've raised 25 thousand of their 100 thousand dollar community goal.

Bowman invites the public out to watch the game and participate in the fun.

She also predicted the Midget Boys would win over the OPP's.

All of the proceeds go towards paying for the upgrades to the arena which includes new dressing rooms, a new elevator and a new rink slab.
