Springwater Budget Approved

Springwater | by Mariane McLeod

Springwater Council appoves zero per cent hike in township portion of tax bill.

Springwater Township has approved this year's budget, with no tax increase on the township portion of the bill.

Property owners will pay more in some cases, because of reassessment.

The average assessment in Springwater has gone up 5.5 per cent this year.

Also, property owners are on the hook for a County tax increase of 1.5 per cent.

Springwater Mayor Linda Collins says councillors voted to reduce spending in Springwater to keep the tax increase at zero.

She says things like councillors going to conferences will be cut from the budget.

The tax bill in Springwater township will also show just how much is being spent on policing.

As for projects in Springwater this year, the township will go ahead with its plan to  replace the fire station in Midhurst and new playground equipment for Elmvale Meadows and Stonegate Park.
