Junior Falcons Win Final Four

Owen Sound | by Bayshore News Staff

OSCVI caps perfect league season by winning Junior boys high school basketball title.

The OSCVI Jr. Boys Falcons basketball team completed a perfect BAA season on Thursday in the Final Four playoff tournament.

The met Kincardine District Secondary School for the first time this season opened up a 21-5 lead in the first quarter en route to 52-20 final. Nathan Curry led all scorers with 23 points while Lauchlin Elder and Oliver Clark chipped in with 8 each.

This set the stage for a Championship Final match-up between Grey Highlands Secondary School and OSCVI Falcons. The home team had a great first half opening up a 34-14 lead. They brought home the gold medal with a final score of 55-36. Nathan Curry again led all scorers with 20 points, Lauchlin Elder with 12 and Braden Boley with 11.

The boys were nervous, as the GHSS Lions had caused a bit of trouble for the Falcons earlier in the year and knew that their previous 3 meetings (and wins) didn't mean much as it all comes down to the final game.

In BAA action this year they were a perfect 13-0. They also defended their own Eastside Shootout tournament title and won a small round robin tournament in Walkerton earlier in the season. Their only 2 losses were to a couple of tough teams from Barrie in the annual Collingwood tournament. Record to date is 19-2.

They advance to the CWOSSA Championships in Guelph, next Friday Feb. 25th.
