If you're travelling the roads of Bruce County between 9 PM and 2 AM any night and it's snowing and blowing -- you're pretty well on your own.
Bruce County Engineer Brian Knox says some people have been concerned about the lack of plows and sand trucks on the job during the late evening hours.
Knox says because of little or no traffic on the roads during those hours, they don't have the equipment operating.
He says patrol personnel go out around 2 AM or 3 AM to check the roads and if they need to be scraped, 16 trucks are ordered out immediately.
He says they have two shifts -- one from 2 AM to about 2 PM and the second from 2 PM to 9 PM.
After that, the roads are not being looked after.
Meanwhile, the 2010 budget handled the winter road clearing costs.
Knox says they budgeted around 2.8 million and spent around 2.3 million dollars.
The 2011 budget request will be presented next week to County Council.
