Brockton Subdivision Delayed
by Robyn Garvey Brockton has provided its blessing on a two year extension for a major subdivision planned for Walkerton's north end. The extension will provide Barry's Construction with the time needed to revamp their subdivision plans. Originally the draft plan involved the construction of about 60 single residential homes. But due to a high demand for new housing, the developer now plans to construct 112 townhouses and 5 single family dwellings. Planning consultant Ron Davidson says the two year extension will provide the time necessary to get all the approvals in place as well as address road and sewer issues. If all goes as planned the shovel should hit the ground in about 12 to 15 months time. Mayor Charlie Bagnato is eager to see the project get underway, as there has been very little activity in Walkerton when it comes to new subdivisions over the years. The subdivision extension request will now go before Bruce County for final approval which is expected to be received in a few weeks time. Owen Sound , 97.9 The Beach, Port Elgin |
