North Huron Cutting Costs, Amidst COVID-19 Outbreak

Reduced grass cuttings, suspension of summer staff hiring among cutbacks announced by North Huron.

The Township of North Huron cutting costs, to reduce the economic impact of the COVID-19 crisis.

Officials have created a priority list, focusing on the immediate "need, health and safety, and continued growth and development" of the community.

Curbside garbage and recycling pickup will continue, along with water and sewer service.

The Wingham Landfill will also remain open with limited forms of payment (debit or pre-approved account).

Meantime, staff have at municipally-owned buildings and facilities have been reduced, as well as the frequency of grass cutting.

Tree removal has been reduced to essential cutting only, and summer staff hiring has been suspended.
