Man Arrested After Impersonation Incident

Wellington County | by Jill Young

Wellington County OPP have responded to at least two recent police impersonation incidents.

A man has been arrested for another incident of impersonating a police officer in Wellington County.

Wellington County OPP say the 25 year old man was arrested after a complaint came in about the man driving in a vehicle that looked like an unmarked police cruiser.

OPP say April 17th a family was riding bikes in the Township of Puslinch when a vehicle approached them and stopped.

The vehicle was a black Ford Explorer SUV with a push bumper on the front and looked like an unmarked police vehicle.

It had yellow and orange flashing lights in the back window.

A 25 year old man from Puslinch has been charged.

In what's believed to be a separate incident earlier this week Wellington County OPP received complaints about an individual impersonating a police officer and stopping people on April 14th to check their "essential worker" status amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

That suspect is believed to be 30-40 years old driving a black four-door sedan like a Ford Fusion with a blue strobe light on the dash.
