Drive-Thru COVID-19 Testing Centre Created In Goderich

Goderich | by Fadi Didi

Officials say the appointment-only swabs will be done at the Knights of Columbus Hall, between 10-4.

A drive-thru testing centre for COVID-19 has been opened in the Town of Goderich.

Testing for the novel coronavirus will take place at the Knights of Columbus Hall, at 390 Parsons Court.

Executive Director with the Maitland Valley Family Health Team, Matthew Hoy, says the coronavirus testing is by appointment only, and walk-ups are not permitted.

For those concerned they have been infected with COVID-19, Hoy suggests contacting their family physician or public health officials for an assessment.

If coronavirus is suspected, an appointment will be made for the drive-thru testing centre.

Swab testing will be done beneath the covered drive-up doorway of the Knights of Columbus facility.

Hoy says the Hall was chosen as the swab sight, to avoid further contaminating the offices of the Maitland Valley Family Health Team, and the Alexandra Marine & General Hospital.

He points to studies indicating it is safer for healthcare professionals to conduct swabs outside, rather than indoors.

Testing will be done weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m..
