People Gather on Long Weekend

Caledon | by Jill Young

Parking and attending conservation and tourist areas a problem on long Easter weekend in Caledon.

Officers from the Caledon OPP Community Response and Traffic Units stepped up their presence and enforcement at the local tourist destinations over the long weekend.

During their patrols, the officers towed six vehicle, issued eight parking tickets, caught two people for trespassing, and stopped many vehicles for stunt driving.

An 18 year old man from Alton was charged with careless driving after stopping his vehicle diagonally in the live lanes of traffic to take photos, completely blocking traffic in both directions.

Caledon OPP continues to educate the public about the importance of physical distancing, and reminds everyone that all parks and conservation areas in the Town of Caledon are closed.

Severe parking restrictions are in place to prevent mass gatherings.
