Goderich Mayor Says No Plans To Use Arenas As COVID-19 Recovery Spaces

Goderich | by Fadi Didi

Mayor John Grace says town's arenas won't be used as medical sites, similar to plans in Kincardine, Hanover.

Goderich Mayor John Grace says there are no plans to use the town's vacant arena space for COVID-19 recovery centres, similar to neighbouring communities.

50-bed community recovery centres are being established at the Davidson Centre in Kincardine, and P&H Centre in Hanover, and health officials battle the novel coronavirus.

Grace tells Country 104.9 News no such plans have been made for arena space in Huron County, the calls for which would be made by Huron Perth Public Health.

Meantime, the town has taken extra measures to ensure outdoor recreational activities are halted for the next three months.

Community activities have been banned until June 30th in Goderich, and Grace says the town's boat launch has also been closed, until further notice.

Heading into Easter weekend, Grace reiterates the reminder from health officials to avoid family gatherings, to curb the spread of COVID-19.
