It took a while to get the bugs worked out, but Huron County Council can now meet by video link for as long as the COVID-19 outbreak lasts.
A special meeting was held Monday in an otherwise almost empty County Courthouse, to discuss an amendment to the County's procedural By-Law.
The amendment that allows remote meetings, passed unanimously.
Warden Jim Ginn and Councillors Myles Murdock and Jim Dietrich were the only members of Council physically present in Goderich, while several Councillors attended remotely.
County Clerk Susan Cronin and Treasurer Michael Blumhagen also attended in person.
Chief Administrative Officer Meighan Wark was present via video link.
Ginn says now that the amendment has passed, Council can meet via video for as long as it needs to, while safeguarding the health of those attending.
Video meetings will start on April 1st.
