Red-Gloved Robber Arrested By Barrie Police

Barrie | by Bayshore News Staff

Police say he robbed Circle K stores four times in the same day.

Barrie police say they've arrested a red-gloved criminal, who was wanted for robbing the same stores four times in the same day.

Police say the same suspect is believed to have robbed Circle K Stores on Dunlop and Bayfield Streets on separate occasions yesterday.

This morning at 6:50 a.m., Barrie Police responded to a report of a robbery at the Circle K located at 149 Dunlop St. East, where an undisclosed amount of money was obtained, before the suspect fled on foot.

The suspect is described as a white man, 5’7 tall, who was wearing a long-sleeved white and black t-shirt, black jeans or pants.

He had his face covered with a long-sleeve black shirt, wore a black bandana, red gloves and carried a green reusable shopping bag.

A short time later, at 10:17 a.m., police received a second call to the same location after the on-duty employee reported he had just been robbed by the same person who had robbed the store earlier.

Although the suspect had somewhat altered his appearance, police say he was still wearing the red gloves, but wore a black shirt with silver or white buttons and has his head covered with a black pullover. Again, a small amount of cash was stolen.

Then a few hours later on Twitter, police announced the same suspect struck again. At 3:27pm, police say he attended the Circle K store located at 151 Bayfield St. and robbed this store too.

Last night at 10:40 p.m., police say the suspect struck for the fourth time in just under 16 hours as he returned to the scene of his first two robberies and robbed the Circle K located at 149 Dunlop St. East for the third time. This time, he again wore a different clothing and black gloves.

Barrie Police immediately descended into the area and the uniform officers who initially responded received assistance from the Service’s Tactical Support Unit, the Canine Unit, Community Response Unit, Drug Enforcement Unit, Forensic Identification Unit and Investigative Services.

Police contained the area where the suspect was last seen fleeing into, and with 30 minutes, a 24-year old male from Barrie was located and taken into custody.

The accused will appear for a bail hearing today and is charged with the following:

  • Robbery (4 Counts)
  • Disguise with Intent (4 Counts)
  • Breach of Probation (4 Counts)
