Honda is shutting down production at North American auto plants including in Alliston.
The automaker says it is adjusting production at automobile plants in Canada, the U.S. and Mexico due to a decline in demand during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Production will be suspended for a period of six days starting March 23rd, and so far they plan to start up again Tuesday March 31st.
With the changing situation around the pandemic, they say they will continue to evaluate things and make changes if necessary.
Employees will still get their full pay, and they will be doing a deep cleaning of all facilities to protect workers when they come back.
Honda also says it will allow employees to better prepare and adjust family plans in relation to regional directives to close schools.
