The National Football League will proceed with its Draft on April 23rd-25th but will cancel public events in Las Vegas. 

Commissioner Roger Goodell said the draft will take place under a modified format still being developed. 

The draft will be televised regardless of its venue or format.



Major League Baseball pushed back opening day until mid-May at the earliest.

Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred made the announcement following a conference call with executives of the 30 teams.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended Sunday that gatherings of 50 people or more be cancelled or postponed across the country for the next 8 weeks.



The National Hockey League pushed back the timeline of when it can potentially resume playing

The league and the NHL Players' Association told players yesterday they can go home but must self-isolate through March 27th.

The NHL cautioned that it will not be able to provide guidance on the potential reopening of team practices for another 45 days.



According to multiple reports, the Kentucky Derby will be postponed from its original date in May and shifted to September 5th as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Churchill Downs is scheduled to announce its official plans for the race on a conference call this morning.

The Derby is first of the three horse races that make up thoroughbred racing's 'Triple Crown'.



The UFC is postponing their next 3 events, plus all UFC offices will be closed effective immediately, including their headquarters in Las Vegas.

The closure will be effective through at least March 31st, 

The decision comes just days after President Dana White proclaimed the fight schedule would be maintained.

The UFC was one of a few sports that continued with action on the weekend with UFC Fight Night:in Brazil. 



NASCAR has suspended its season until May.

The decision came after conference calls yesterday between the sanctioning body and its team owners. 

In total, the decision will impact 7 races

The series plans to return to the track at Martinsville Speedway in Virginia on May 9.



Wrestlemania 36 has been relocated from Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Bay to the WWE  training facility in Orlando.

The event will still take place on April 5th

WWE conducted their weekly Smackdown show at the training facility and it will continue to use the venue for its TV tapings, with only essential personnel in attendance.

The Blue Water Curling Club is closed for the season in response to COVID-19.  

The Club is looking forward to next year.

Minor Hockey

The Ontario Hockey Federation and its 7 member partners, including the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), have issued a statement regarding spring tryouts for the 2020-21 season.

The health and safety of all participants in the sport is of the utmost importance to the OHF and its member partners.

As such, tryouts for the 2020-21 season will not be conducted this Spring. 

Instead the OHF will provide guidance on when the introduction of the 2020-21 season will begin, subject to the Hockey Canada Board of Directors’ future decision when to reinstate all Hockey Canada-sanctioned activities.  

The OHF and its member partners will be in direct contact with all members to establish when sanctioned activities can resume.



Due to the severity of the coronavirus, and for the safety of all those concerned, the Owen Sound Sports Hall of Fame Committee regretfully announce the cancellation of the Inductee Dinner and Ceremony scheduled for May 8th. at the Harry Lumley Bayshore Community Centre, 

The Committee is now looking at a Fall date to be determined for the Induction Night



In response to the impact of COVID-19, Owen Sound Little Theatre has decided to close The Roxy Theatre to the public indefinitely.

Out of caution, and in an effort to help limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus, the CFOS 80th Birthday Bash at the Roxy Theatre on April 24th has been cancelled
