Police Warn About Fake Business Conference

Alliston | by Jill Young

Nottawasaga OPP warn the public about a fake business summit that people had paid for.

Authorities are warning the public about a recent fraud scam regarding a fake business conference held in Alliston.

OPP say the suspects have been advertising an upcoming International Fair Trade Business and Investors Summit that was to be held next month April 9-11th, at the Nottawasaga Inn Resort and Conference Centre.

Police were contacted by a concerned representative of the facility after they received numerous inquiries from people who had paid their registration fees, using Bitcoin through a website.

It was found to be a fraud scam and police are looking for any more information, and wanted to make the community aware.

Members of the public are encouraged to make themselves familiar with on-going scams in Canada and report fraud to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre by visiting: http://www.antifraudcentre.ca
