Emerging Artists Program Approved

Orangeville | by Jill Young

The deadline to register for the program for young up and coming musicians is Wednesday March 11.

A special arts program for up and coming performers is getting backing from the Town of Orangeville.

At Monday night's council meeting, members approved a memorandum of understanding between the town and the Ontario Musicians Cooperative, supporting the implementation of the Emerging Artists Program.

Once federal funding is confirmed, the program will create paid full-time jobs for young musicians and singers this summer.

Young people from the ages of 16 to 30 - who apply and get accepted - will have a chance at performance opportunities, in-depth training, and an opportunity earn money doing it.

Musicians and vocalists are encouraged to audition for the program Wednesday, March 11th from 7 pm to 9 pm at the Theatre Orangeville Rehearsal Hall located on the east side of the Community Living Dufferin building on County Road 3.
