OPP Identify Victim In Orillia Snowmobile Fatality

Around 4:30 am Sunday, police got a call about cries for help near the section of the lake known as 'the narrows'.

Orillia OPP have identified the man who died when the snowmobile he was on plunged into Lake Simcoe.

It happened early Sunday morning.

Around 4:30 am, police got a call about cries for help near the section of the lake known as 'the narrows'.

There were two men on the sled.

One man was taken to an Orillia area hospital to be treated for hypothermia where he remains.

Then early Sunday evening, the OPP's Under Water Search and Recovery Unit recovered the body of 35-year-old, James Tahir of Orillia.

His body's being held for a post mortem examination in Toronto.
