Charges Laid In Collision That Killed 17 Year Old Barrie Girl

On January 29th police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Georgian Drive in Barrie.

Charges have been laid in connection with the crash that claimed the life of 17-year-old Paige Ferreira.

On January 29th police responded to a single motor vehicle collision on Georgian Drive in Barrie.

A westbound vehicle lost control as it entered the curve in the road just west of the driveway to Georgian College.

It mounted a snowbank, struck a large directional road sign and rolled numerous times, coming to rest in an open, snow-covered area between Georgian Drive and Highway 400.

The 17-year-old Ferreira, who was from Barrie, was taken to a local hospital, but a short time later was pronounced deceased.

A male driver was also taken to hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Now Barrie Police say a 17-year old male and 19-year old male were arrested Sunday and charged with Dangerous Operation of a Conveyance Causing Death,

They were remanded in custody for a bail hearing Monday and will next appear in Barrie court March 19 and March 17th respectively.
