An Orillia man accused of ramming into a police cruiser in a stolen vehicle has been arrested.
York Regional Police say the 27-year-old man was arrested by Peel Police on Sunday.
On November 29, police were called about reports of a possible impaired driver getting into a vehicle in the parking lot of a beer store in Newmarket.
When an officer arrived at the scene, he positioned his cruiser directly behind the suspect vehicle to block him in.
However, police say the man allegedly backed up, smashed into the cruiser twice, before accelerating onto the sidewalk, hitting the building wall and taking off.
The vehicle was later found abandoned, and police say that's when they learned it had been stolen in Peel Region.
Johnny Danicki is now facing 17 charges, including: assault with a weapon, possession of methamphetamine, identity theft and flight from police.
