Police Report Destructive Joy Ride In Owen Sound

Police say spree Included a stolen truck, attempted break in, smashed fences, damaged football field and more.

Owen Sound police have arrested a 31 year old man of no fixed address after they say he used a stolen truck to commit other criminal offences.

Police allege overnight Monday into Tuesday, the man stole a brand new white pickup that was unlocked with the keys inside, from a home in the 1300 block of 4th Ave West.

They say he then drove to a house on the upper west side and woke some residents while trying to break into thier house, but they scared him off.

Police say later that morning, the man used bank cards from the wallet he found in the stolen truck to buy a number of things at some stores on the west side.

They say he then drove behind a strip plaza and crashed the truck into a fence causing a large portion of the fence to fall over.  

Then he reportedly headed to Owen Sound District Secondary School where he  drove around the football field, crashed into a chain link fence and got the truck stuck, then ran off.

Police identified the man and arrested him in an east side store.

All in, they estimate damage he reportedly did was about $20,000.

He faces ten criminal charges.
