Tattoos For Food Bank In Hanover

Hanover | by Robyn Garvey

A Hanover artist is offering discounted tattoos in exchange for food bank donations.

Back by popular demand, a Hanover tattoo artist is holding a very unusual food drive.

For the second year in a row, Meg Inques is offering discounted tattoos in exchange for food bank donations.

With the incredible success of last year, Inques says she wanted to do it again, only this time even bigger.

Last year Inques was overwhelmed by the public response which left her tattooing for 15 hours straight right into the wee hours of the morning.

She was more than a little surprised to arrive at work that morning to discover a line up of people who had been waiting for hours to participate in the tattoo food drive program.

This year, Inques says will be even better, as she has extended the event from a one-day event to the entire weekend, she has also enlisted the help of another tattoo artist to assist with the demand.

Inques is very excited about the food drive, saying this is her way to give back to the community.

She adds the need for donations to the local food banks is great, noting this is an especially challenging time of year for people with higher heating bills and Christmas expenses.

The Tattoo Food Drive runs Saturday and Sunday beginning at 11 am.

Customers will have over 500 pre-designed tattoos at a discounted rate to choose from, anyone who brings 3 or more non perishable food and hygiene items will get an additional $20 off the tattoo.

All donations will go to support the Walkerton and District Food Bank.

Meg Inques Tattoo is located in the More Than Hair salon building at 158 10th Street in Hanover.
