Province Provides $6.6-Million For Hospitals in Grey Bruce

Regional | by Cody Misner

Walker says that funding will be split up among the smaller based on who needs it most.

New provincial funding is seeing over $6.6 million going to local hospitals in Grey Bruce.

Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker broke down the funding saying "$6.19 million for Grey Bruce Health Services, $327,000 for South Bruce Grey Health Centre and $144,000 for Hanover and District Hospital, all three are appreciative of the funding and the care it will provide close to home."

This funding increase is just part of a $68 million increase on top of the current budget and focuses specifically on small and medium sized hospitals.

A press release outlines that this funding hopes to ease current issues around hallway health care, funding model inequities and maintaining the level of health care.

Walker went on to state that the bulk of the funding would remain at the Owen Sound Hospital as it has specialty treatment services such as cancer treatments.

He says that funding will be split up among the smaller based on who needs it most.
