The seventh-place Goderich Flyers skated to a 2-2 tie with the sixth-place Walkerton Hawks at the Maitland Rec Centre Saturday, with both teams gaining one point in the standings.
Walkerton remains one point ahead of the Flyers, with six to Goderich's five.
The game's only power play of the night came at 12:29 of the first period, when the Flyers' Kaden Hogarth and Parker Gibbings set up Nolan Gagnier, to put Goderich ahead 1-0.
Darcy Scott's goal with 42 seconds left in the opening frame tied the score 1-1 through 20 minutes of play.
Walkerton went up 2-1 late in the second period on Evan Visser's marker, and Gibbings forced overtime with his goal from Mitch Fisher and Jeff Fritzley at 3:55 of the third period.
Goderich had the upper hand through much of the seven-minute extra period, but a shot off the crossbar was as close as they would come to ending the game with a victory.
The Flyers travel to Mitchell for a 3pm game on Sunday, then take on Wingham in a neutral site home game at Eastlink Arena in Clinton, Friday at 8:30pm.
In Saturday's other PJHL Pollock Division play, Ryley Cribbin's goal 14 seconds into overtime gave Mount Forest a 4-3 win over Wingham; the Patriots now occupy first place with 31 points, one ahead of the Ironmen.
Brett Burrows led Kincardine with two goals, as the Bulldogs downed Hanover 4-1.
In the PJHL Yeck Division Saturday, Nick Sammons scored twice and Jack Robinson accounted for four points including a goal as the Exeter Hawks blanked Port Stanley 9-0.
