Jumping off the Huron Terrace Bridge into the Penatangore River in Kincardine for summer recreation could cost you some money in the future.
Director of Building and Planning for Kincardine, Michele Barr says the town and OPP were informed of some people jumping off the bridge into the river, last summer.
Barr says due to safety concerns with the depth and clarity of the water, staff decided to bring to council an amendment to the public nuisance bylaw to cover this issue and others on other bridges.
The amendment will prohibit various activities from the bridges.
The fine could be $300 or more.
Barr says, "We do have a number of pedestrian bridges (over roadways or waterways) and the OPP are seeing activity with those as well."
Council has approved the addition to the public nuisance bylaw.
