Bruce Power and its partners in the nuclear supplier community celebrated a total of $1 million donated to Wounded Warriors Canada at its annual gala last week in Kincardine, a milestone donation for the Canadian charity.

Scott Maxwell, Executive Director, Wounded Warriors says, "the 2019 Gala was particularly special because, thanks to the support of Bruce Power and its suppliers, we reached $1 million donated to the charity - becoming the first $1 million donor in the history of Wounded Warriors Canada."

A total of $144,000 was raised through the nuclear power plant this year for Wounded Warriors which was topped up to $170,000 thanks to personal donations and funds raised in a silent auction.

An additional $26,000 was donated to 13 Royal Canadian Legion Branches across Bruce County.

Bruce Power has been supporting the program since 2012.

This funding goes toward programs that assist with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), trauma recovery, education, job skills training, and veterans transitioning to civilian life. Wounded Warriors Canada is the nation's leading, wholly independent, Veteran's charity focusing on mental health. Its innovative and wide-ranging programming is changing the lives of ill and injured Veterans, First Responders and their families.

The keynote speaker at the gala was Major-General (Ret.) David Fraser who served for over 31 years with the Canadian Forces. His career is highlighted by numerous operational tours around the world where he served in command at every rank from Lieutenant to Major-General on operations commanding Canadian and multi-national troops. For his leadership, he is one of the most decorated officers Canada has produced.
