The Huron Shores Hospice is able to build a second hospice room at the Tiverton Park Manor after receiving $40,000 in donations from a Southampton Rotary Club event.
On Saturday October 26, the Southampton Rotary Club hosted its 18th annual benefit auction; which altogether raised $70,000.
Co-chair of the Huron Shores Hospice, Carol Rencheck says the Hospice secured the funds through the "Fund A Need" portion of the evening.
"The second suite will allow the Hospice to provide additional quality end of life care to the residents of Southern Bruce County. We are so grateful for the Rotary's support of the Hospice and are very thankful for all the guests that donated," she says.
The second room is projected to open in the fall of 2020, depending on the location of available rooms says Cheryl Cottrill, Co-Chair of the Board of Directors.
"Having the two beds close to each other would mean that the PSW that works in the room from 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. would be able to handle both rooms and the volunteer who works from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. would be able to support both families."
