Brockton is on the hunt for a Director of Community Services, this new position will encompass Parks, Recreation and Facilities.
Over the past year the Recreation portfolio has fallen under the Fire Chief's duties, prior to that it had been coupled with Operations, and prior to that the municipality had a Director of Recreation.
This new Director of Community Services position is being created says CAO Sonya Watson to address the growth in the municipality.
She says Brockton is experiencing a phase of solid growth and this leadership position will be instrumental to continue to ensure the many generations of people who choose to make Brockton home benefit from top-notch programming and facilities.
Councillor James Lang is pleased with the creation of the new position saying it is residents who will benefit.
Along with managing activities associated with recreation, parks and facilities the Director will support user groups, committees and service clubs with community projects.
The decision to create this new position reflects Council's desire to ensure families can put down roots in a safe, welcoming and affordable community that offers facilities, programs, activities and events for people of all ages.
