Big Changes Coming to Shelburne Street Festival

Shelburne | by Jill Young

The Shelburne Street Festival is moving to Canada Day on July 1st next year, with a different name.

The Shelburne Street Festival, one of the town's biggest summer events, is changing.

Announced on their Facebook page, the festival will now be combined into one really big event to align with Canada Day.

The street festival typically was held a weekend in June, and attracted thousands of people.

In 2020, the Street Festival will be held on Wednesday July 1st for what's now being called the Canada Day Festival.

It will be an all day affair, from Noon to 11pm and Commitee member and Town Councillor Kyle Fegan says it will still have a lot of the popular features of the Street Festival.

He says they are working on the vendor market, classic cars, and bands, as well as the fireworks.

They are also looking at shuttle buses to get people over to Fiddle Park if transportation is an issue.

Fegan says one of the main reasons for the change is so they can combine resources for both events into one big one.
