Local health officials say we are now into the Flu season.
Wellington Dufferin Guelph Public Health says there have already been two confirmed cases of the flu in the region, affecting children.
Public Health is distributing the flu shot to doctors now, and pharmacies will get the vaccine from the Ministry of Health in November.
They're urging people to get their shot as soon as possible, especially children under 5, adults 65 and older, pregnant women, and those with chronic medical conditions.
The flu is spread directly from one person to another when infected people cough or sneeze, and can spread before symptoms even appear.
It can also be spread when a person touches surfaces that are infected with the virus like toys, cell phones, and doorknobs.
