A 24 year old Southampton man was arrested and charged on Sunday (October 13th), just after 5:00 a.m. for traveling at excessive speeds and impaired driving.
An officer was conducting stationary radar speed enforcement on Bruce County Road 3 observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The
officer activated the radar and received a reading of 129 km in an 80 km zone.
During a vehicle the stop police say the male driver was identified and was found to be in violation of a curfew as a result of a recognizance of bail.
Police say the officer also observed the male to be in an intoxicated state.
He was placed under arrest for operation while impaired and breach of a recognizance.
At the station the male provided two samples of 132 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood and 135 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
Overall he has been charged with:
1. Breach of recognizance (curfew violation)
2. Breach of recognizance (alcohol prohibition)
3. Breach of probation
4. Operation while impaired
5. Driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor
The male was held for a bail hearing.
