A Record Month For Grey Bruce Real Estate

Grey Bruce | by Claire McCormack

Realtors say it was a strong month for sales, property values are up, but supply is still low.

The Realtors Association Grey Bruce Owen Sound says home sales remain strong for second straight month in September

292 units were sold in September, about a 34 per cent increase from the previous September and was among the better September sales figures in history.

According to the association, the average price of homes sold last month was over $404 thousand --- jumping 12.6 per cent in a year.

The more comprehensive year-to-date average price was $389,411, up 8.8 per cent from the first nine months of 2018.

New residential listings in the region numbered 380 units in September 2019, an increase of close to 14 per cent on a year-over-year basis though realtors say that is still below most of the last decade.

Overall supply remains near record lows.

Listings numbered 1,018 units at the end of September.

While this was up nearly 10 per cent from September 2018, it's historically among the lowest in the area's history.

The dollar value of all home sales in September 2019 was $118.2 million, up about 50 per cent from the same month in 2018.

Realtors say this was a new record for the month of September.

Sales of all property types numbered 362 units in September 2019, an increase of 21.9per cent from September 2018.

The total value of all properties sold was $139.3 million, jumping 40.8 per cent from September 2018.
