Flyers Shut Out By Kincardine In PJHL Action

Goderich | by Peter Jackson

Bulldogs' goaltender Jamie Brock makes 19-saves in 5-0 victory at MRC Sunday

The mountaintop continues to get higher and farther away for the Goderich Flyers.

Goderich has yet to pick up a win in the young Provincial Junior Hockey League season and seems to have lost its scoring touch, at least for now.

The trend continued in a 5-0 loss to the Kincardine Bulldogs at the Maitland Recreation Centre Sunday.

That followed a 6-1 loss to Pollock Division-leading Wingham at the Wescast Complex on Friday.

Veteran Flyers' forward and team captain Trent Michie says a team-wide approach to improvement is needed.

He adds that the Flyers are learning new systems under head coach Jim Fritzley, who joined Goderich after the regular season began in September.

Michie says the club needs to adjust to a new way of doing things, both physically and mentally.

Mike Feighen and Bryce McFadden led Kincardine with two goals each Sunday, with Brett Angel rounding out the Bulldogs' scoring with a single.

Kincardine Goaltender Jamie Brock made 19 saves, in picking up the shutout.

The loss leaves the Flyers in seventh place in the PJHL's Pollock Division at 0-and-8, while fifth-place Kincardine's record improves to 4-3-1-and-0.

Sunday's only other game in the PJHL Pollock Division saw goaltender Brendon Landry post a 30-shot shutout, as Hanover blanked Walkerton 7-0 at the P and H Centre.

The Flyers travel to Walkerton on Friday, then return to host Hanover at MRC Saturday at 7:30pm.
