More child care spaces are coming to Walkerton.
An announcement was made today in front of St. Teresa of Calcutta Catholic Elementary School where the Brockton Child Care Centre is located.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says the provincial government has given approval to the board to tender up to one-million-dollars for an addition to the school.
Thompson told a small gathering outside the school on Thursday morning, the one-million-dollars will build two new child care rooms and more importantly, create 39 new child care spaces at the facility.
Brockton Mayor Chris Peabody says the 39 spaces will really help in Walkerton where the population is booming and young families are looking for early child care services.
He calls it, "fantastic news."
Chair of Catholic District School Board Bev Eckensweiler says the new addition should be open by next Fall.
Eckensweiler says she knows of a lot of familes that are "patiently waiting to have their children in here."
