New Technology Coming to Headwaters Health Care

Orangeville | by Jill Young

Orangeville's hospital is welcoming some new technology to help patients at the bedside.

Families and patients will soon be able to actively participate in their care and engage with their care providers at Headwaters Health Care Centre.

The hospital has partnered with HealthHub Patient Engagement Solutions to launch The Hub which will bring electronic medical records to the bedside.

HealthHub installed the first set of five Integrated Bedside Terminals in the hemodialysis unit in late 2018 for patients and staff to use.

It will allow patients to provide their feedback regarding their care, but there's also an entertainment feature that will offer bedside TV and games as well as the internet.

96 IBTs will be available throughout the hospital with plans for them to be installed over a three-week period.

In the future patients will be able to use the devices to make dietary preference requests and order from the hospital gift shop.
