Simcoe County Waste Collection Issues

Simcoe County | by Phil DeLand

County officials are asking residents patient.

Widespread impacts to curbside waste collection services continue across Simcoe County.

Officials with the county say Waste Connections is experiencing challenges with staffing due to labour shortages and drivers reaching maximum hours to operate.

They say increased summer waste volumes along with the heat and humidity have only compounded the issues.

County officials say people should keep their garbage and recycles at the curb from 7am to 8pm on the day they're supposed to be picked up.

They say they're prioritizing the collection of garbage and green bins to cut down on nasty smells and animals.

Because regular crews can't come back the next day, people should bring their recycles out for double collection on the next scheduled pick up day.

However, additional crews may be sent out on extra days, including Saturdays.

Officials encourage people to check www.simcoe.ca for regular updates.

They say you can also follow any of their Twitter handles @simcoecountycs, @simcoecounty or on Facebook @CountyofSimcoe.
