- A local soccer team is hosting a fundraiser for a team members family and cancer research.
The Owen Sound Grey Motors United is hosting a home game with a few special activities thrown in the mix.
A barbeque and family activities are being held from 5pm until 7pm when the game begins. Kids activities and a bouncy castle will be on site with the barbeque continuing through the game.
50% of all the funds raised will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society, the other half will be given to Charlene Montgomery, the mother of one of the teams players.
Speaking about the importance of such fundraisers the teams Trainor Katherine Ruck says "We are like family on this team, it's only right to help one of our own."
She goes on talking about the wider impact of cancer research, "everyone has been impacted in one way or another by cancer, this event is made to be fun and family friendly with a good cause behind it," Ruck states.
Things kick off at 5pm with the food available throughout the game.
