A #NoJobsNoDice solidarity rally against recent job cuts at Casino Rama is taking place today in Orillia, at Tudhope Park from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Unifor National President Jerry Dias, who will attend the rally, accuses the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation of misleading the public about job losses and service cuts that privatization of Casino Rama would bring.
70 full and part time union members lost their jobs in July, while another 40 plus non-union managers and supervisors were also cut.
Gateway Casinos and Entertainment took over operation of Casino Rama just over a year ago.
Unifor says since then, hundreds of jobs have been reshuffled and 18 per cent of the casino's Indigenous workforce are no longer there.
Gateway will also be the operator of the new casino in Wasaga Beach.
