Stabbing in Ayton

Ayton | by Matt Hermiz

39-year-old Hanover man faces numerous charges.

A 39-year-old Hanover man faces a number of charges after allegedly stabbing two people in West Grey.

West Grey Police say on Sunday a report came in about a stabbing at a Louisa Street residence in Ayton.

Police say a heated argument arose between a male and female who were sitting in the front seat of a parked vehicle.

According to police, a male third party then entered the rear of the vehicle and began stabbing the front seat male passenger with a butterfly knife.

Police say a fight ensued and the female attempted to separate the two men. She, too, was stabbed in the palm of her hand as a result.

Both the male and female stabbing victims were given medical attention at hospital and are in stable condition.

Police say 39-year-old Michael Gagnon of Hanover was arrested and charged with several offences, including aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

He was held in custody for a bail hearing today in Walkerton.
