A record number of teams will be taking part in the 15th annual Don Johnston Memorial Slo-Pitch Tournament, in Goderich.
This year marks the first the tournament will be held at the new Bannister Park.
Organizer Trevor Bazinet says 37 teams will be taking part in the four-day event, which kicks off Thursday night with the annual "Guns & Hoses" match between the Huron OPP and Goderich Fire Department.
That number beats the former record of 35 teams, set during the tournament's 13th year.
The tournament is named after former Lions Club member Don Johnston, who was involved heavily with minor sports in Canada's Prettiest Town.
Bazinet says members of the Johnston family will throw the tournament's opening pitch Friday night.
The tournament is free to attend, and runs Thursday to Sunday at Goderich's Bannister Park and the GDCI ball diamond.
Beverage proceeds benefit the Junior C Goderich Flyers.
