A significant residential development is moving ahead in West Grey.
West Grey council recently approved a by-law to authorize a subdivision agreement with John Welton Custom Homebuilding for a 242-unit development in Durham.
West Grey Mayor Christine Robinson says the development will be just east of Highway 6, in the north end of Durham.
"It's actually going to change the skyline for Durham," Robsinson says. "I can't help but think about all the new families or people moving from another area in West Grey over to this new development. It's incredibly exciting and also good for our economy."
The mixed-use development will be comprised of 118 single family homes, 60 semi-detached and 64 townhouses.
Robinson says the build will be done over four phases, with the first set to begin this fall.
