After five years and $3.8 million, Goderich is hosting the official opening of the new Bannister Park.
Officials will be on hand Saturday morning for the opening of the new recreational facilities, formerly known as Agricultural Park.
The park will feature three baseball diamonds, a soccer pitch, skate park, children's playground, and pavilion.
Leah Noel is the Chair of the Recreational Park Revitalization Committee.
Noel tells Country 104.9 News the park will provide an economic boost to the town, by attracting families looking for areas with strong recreational amenities.
Goderich Deputy Mayor Myles Murdock says Bannister Park will attract "recreational tourism," with sports teams looking to Goderich's facilities for future tournaments.
Noel says staff at Goderich town hall were critical in helping committee members and volunteers navigate the realization of Bannister Park.
The grand opening of Bannister Park will begin Saturday morning at 9:00 a.m., and continue until 9:00 p.m..
