A Huron County cycling enthusiast says his community and Huron County can boost the local economy by working together.
Dan Barry appeared before County Council earlier this month, with an annual update on the Huron Cycling Strategy that started in 2017.
Barry says Huron County can become a tourist cycling destination by promoting the activity more, and pointing out the challenges our rural roads have to offer.
He mentions that Huron offers a variety of routes, from straight-line County roads, to those that run through winding and hilly terrain.
Barry adds that the local cycling community is friendly and accepting, which adds to the experience.
He notes that for the most part, local drivers are respectful of cyclists and try to give them as much room as possible when passing.
Barry says he would recommend Huron County as a destination for cyclists because of the quality of the roads, and places where they can stop for refreshment.
