Another Goderich summer weekend has gone by, with a closer eye being kept on where recreational vehicles park near beach areas.
In response to a resident letter, Goderich Councillor Trevor Bazinet says there are still violations, but more RVs are now parking on the lot formerly occupied by the old railway station.
He admits is isn't a perfect situation and likely may never be, but the municipal by-law officer often puts in extra hours along Cove Road, getting illegally parked RVs to move.
Bazinet encourages residents who see illegally parked RVs along Cove Road to contact the by-law officer or a member of Council, to help deal with the situation.
He tells Country 104.9 News that Goderich attracts recreational vehicles because parking near the beach remains free.
Many other communities including Grand Bend now charge vehicle owners who want to park with easy access to a beach.
