Goderich's Alexandra Marine and General Hospital Foundation is trying to raise $3.5 million in donations, to modernize two vital services it provides.
The All In For Your Health campaign has brought in 80 per-cent of the target since it began in February, and organizers are now reaching out to the public to donate.
The funds will replace the CT scanner which was also purchased as the result of a fundraising drive held a decade ago, and now costs $130 thousand a year to maintain.
The new unit will employ leading-edge imaging technology.
The other project involves refurbishing the 40 year-old mental health unit at AMGH, to more properly reflect modern treatment practices.
The All In For Your Health campaign runs until the end of the year.
