Multiple Charges Laid Against Goderich Man Who Allegedly Resisted Arrest

Two OPP officers subdued the suspect in the Nelson St. incident

A 51 year-old man is due up in Goderich Court on July 29th, after a challenging arrest for OPP officers on Nelson Street this week.

Police say the suspect was wanted for multiple alleged offences, including a break-in to a Goderich storage unit business and shoplifting electronics.

Investigators tell us an officer approached the accused as he walked along Nelson Street, but the man actively resisted when being taken into custody.

The man was subdued with the help of a backup officer, and a search of the suspect revealed quantities of methamphetamine and hydromorphone.

The Goderich resident faces two drug possession for the purpose of trafficking charges and one count each of resist a peace officer, break-and-enter with intent, and theft under $5,000.
