Huron OPP Concerned About Spike In Stolen Vehicles

Huron County | by Peter Jackson

Police say 19 vehicles reported stolen in Huron County between June 1st and July 7th.

OPP in Huron County are becoming frustrated with the number of vehicles stolen, since a "lock it or lose it" message was repeated in April.

Constable Jamie Stanley tells us that between June 1st and July 7th, 19 vehicles were reported stolen in Huron.

He mentions that trucks seem to be the top choice for local thieves, with 13 stolen during that five-week period.

Also taken were three cars, two motorcycles and one all-terrain vehicle.

While most were stolen during the overnight hours, Stanley says 16 vehicles were left unlocked and almost all had the keys in the ignition.

OPP are asking owners to take a little time to take their keys with them, and make sure their unattended cars and trucks are locked.
