The Durham Art Gallery is offering a very generous schloarship.
Fostering and supporting young budding artists to pursue their passion at the post secondary level is what the Fallis Scholarship For the Arts is all about.
Now in its second year, the generous 3 thousand dollar scholarship was created out of a desire to cultivate art and artists throughout Grey Bruce.
The Fallis Scholarship for the Arts is open to Grey and Bruce students who have been accepted or are enrolled in an arts program at a post secondary institution.
The scholarship bears the Fallis name, after the Fallis family who have been longtime generous supporters of the Durham Art Gallery.
Peter Fallis calls it an honour to have his family's name on the scholarship and he strongly encourages eligible youth to apply.
President of the Durham Art Gallery Board David Sugarman adds The Gallery wants to give back to our incredible and supportive community, as well as nurture and encourage the next crop of locally-raised artists.
Durham Art Gallery Curator Jaclyn Quaresma calls it an incredible opportunity for students pursuing the arts.
She encourages those eligible to apply soon as the deadline for submissions is Friday July 26th.
Quaresma says the Fallis Scholarship For the Arts is meant to assist a local artist in their post secondary school dreams by alleviating some of their financial burdens through a scholarship award.
She says pursuing the arts can be a little scary, as education is quite expensive and there is not always a clear path of where it will take you.
Quaresma says the scholarship will provide the successful candidate with a little extra breathing room in the form of financial support to allow that creativity to freely flow.
