Fanshawe College is coming to Southampton.
The agreement would give the college regular use of classroom space in the Southampton Fire Hall and waive the facility rental fee for the first year of operation.
Saugeen Shores Manager of Strategic Initiatives Jessica Linthorne says they're thrilled that Fanshawe is bringing their Business Entrepreneurship and Management Diploma program, via live streaming to a classroom setting at the fire hall.
Deputy Mayor Don Matheson says the program is a great opportunity for students who may not have been able to get to the college in London.
He says this way the students can be part of the program and not incur the costs of travelling to and living in London.
Linthorne says Fanshawe recognizes the diversity of businesses in Southampton and believe owners and operators will be open to a mentorship program for the students.
The program has been very successful in Goderich where the result was six brand new businesses that started along with students who started in a business-type management-related environment, working as employees.
Classes in Southampton will begin this September.
