Search Is On For New Poet Laureate

The library in Owen Sound is looking for an outstanding local poet.

The search is on for Owen Sound's next Poet Laureate.

Lauren Best has come to the end of her two-year tenure in the role. Best focused on encouraging children to express themselves through poetry.

The Owen Sound and North Grey Union Public Library is looking for a poet in Grey Bruce with a substantial body of work that is either published or not.

The Poet Laureate writes poems about the area, and this time around the Poet Laureate Advisory Committee is looking for an emphasis on the environment.

They write and read poems for special public events, works with local poets and writers and acts as literary ambassador for the city and the region.

The Advisory Committee will choose a poet after the application deadline of August 16th.

The two-year term would be from October 1st, 2019 to September 30th 2021.
