Barrie | by Ian MacLennan

Court heard the driver was two times over the legal limit.

An Oro-Medonte man has been sentenced to five years in prison for a drunk driving crash that killed his best friend, 19 year old Parker Pautsch.

CTV reports a judge handed down the sentence today (MONDAY) against Noah Poisson, who was 19 at the time when the truck he was driving went off the road in Hawkestone in August 2016.

Court heard Poisson was two times over the legal limit.

His truck left Oro-Medonte Line 13,  became airborne,  then rolled several times, and Pautsch, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and pinned underneath the vehicle.

Poisson was buckled in and came away with minor injuries.
